Mount Suswa Camping Expedition

December 7 @ 6:00 am - December 8 @ 8:00 pm

Mt Suswa

Located in the land of the Maasai, Mt Suswa is an awesome spectacle standing at 2356M asl. It boosts of a double crater and lava tube caves in the northeast side of the mountain.

This tour will endow you with a unique opportunity to venture into the least explored and mysterious inner crater otherwise known as “the lost world”. This is home to rare birds and animal species. Descending to the crater bottom and ascending to the inner crater is an exceptional adventure in itself.
The maasai have a rich culture and they will share with us first hand the life, rituals and beliefs which have made them a symbol of culture all over the world. You shall be treated to some sizzling maasai nyama choma with the barbeque done as you watch.

Day 1
On the first day we shall drive from Nairobi with a stop over at the riftvalley view point. We shall have a 5km trek to the summit of the outer rim where we shall have lunch and afterwards descend to the lost world for 3-4hrs of exploration. Later after inner crater exploration some sizzling nyama choma will be awaiting with Ugali accompaniment. This will also be a perfect moment to view the sunset as it sinks into the horizon. Dinner will be served later and memorable bonfire moments will be created

Day 2
On the second day we shall do a 14km hike along the outer crater rim to the highest peak which stands at 2356mtrs asl. After the hike we will head to the caves which are a major attraction in Mt Suswa. Unlike most limestone caves, this caves are formed from lava tubed and are characterized by stalactites and stalagmites creating spectacular rugged formations on the caves.
We will also explore the baboons parliament, a section of the caves where baboons reside at night. Interestingly they share this with the bats that inhabit the place during the day. From the caves we shall drive back to Nairobi with loads of good memories.
